Do you know one of the most suprising verses in the Bible?

"And in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, 'Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name.' And again it is said, 'Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.' And again, 'Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples extol him.' And again Isaiah says, 'The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.'" -Romans 15:9–12

Paul is making reference to multiple Old Testament passages that all point to how God always intended for people of every nation to be saved by His grace.

That God's plan is for everyone.

The God of the Bible chose Israel, not so that they would hog His blessings and redemption, but that He would be able to bring His redemption for everyone through them.

We see this clearly throughout scripture, and God even says it blatently when speaking to Abraham:

"I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice." -Genesis 22:17–18

It was through Abraham's lineage that we eventually receieve Jesus.

So that regardless of
who you are,
what family you come from,
what status you have,
skills, talents, abilities, money,
or anything else...

God's plan is for you too.

Let's remember the inclusive hope that Christmas brought to the entire world.

And, for your enjoyment, here are the verses that Paul references in Romans 15:9–12 (italicizes are mine):

"Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people." -Deuteronomy 32:43

"For this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing to your name." -Psalm 18:49

"For this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to your name." -2 Samuel 22:50

"Praise the Lord, all nations! Extol him, all peoples!" -Psalm 117:1

"In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a signal for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious." -Isaiah 11:10
